William graduated from the historical Little Rock Central High School where he performed in the madrigals, concert choir, concert band and jazz band. After graduating from high school, William earned a four-year music scholarship to Philander Smith College in Little Rock.
Though his true artistry is literally the ability to make a piano or any keyboard “walk”, William is also an exceptional, accomplished saxophonist. His velvety smooth voice and playing abilities has enabled William to perform for a long list of dignitaries. In 1990, William’s college professor introduced him to then Governor of Arkansas and now Former President of the United States, Bill Clinton. On several occasions William played for jazz brunches held at the Governor’s mansion during Mr. Clinton’s term as Governor of Arkansas. Furthermore, William had the distinctive honor of performing on many occasions for President Clinton during his term as President of the United States. William has also performed for Jerry Jones, owner of the Dallas Cowboys and Middle Weight Champion Of The World, Jermaine Taylor.
William has performed with many artists such as Al Green, Isaac Hayes, Albert King, Bobby Rush, Larry “Totsy” Davis and Ron Kenolly. He’s also opened shows for The Four Tops, Peabo Bryson, B.B. King, Johnnie Taylor, Javier, Johnnie Winters, Rick James, Koko Taylor, Freda Payne, Tyrone Davis, Shirley Caesar and Comedian Rich Little and many more.
William taught music history and choir classes in the Little Rock Public School District for over five years. He left teaching school to spend more time with his career in music. William currently owns and operates a recording studio, Staggers Music Entertainment, where he specializes in instrumental soundtracks and audio mastering. In 2006, William released an album and got excellent reviews. William has produced several albums for other recording artists across the country and is currently working on his next album. At 6’5” and a wealth of stage presence, this single sagittarius is a natural live performer.
The second oldest of four children, William credits his parents with providing a stable two-parent household and plenty of love for him to nurture his gift. A gift he looks forward to sharing for many generations to come.
When William is not on the road or overseas, he can be seen performing in some of the distinguished restaurants and venues around town in Little Rock, Arkansas
